My saviour!

Another nice day, the head of theatrical who i met with yesterday is turning out to be a godsend, he’s such a nice boss… my saviour for the time being… i will have to remember to write him a thank you card when i leave. Today he called me asking me to do a very important task that will need to be completed close of business monday… real work, real deadlines… i almost jumped out of my skin with excitement. Seems my finance/excel skills are coming very much in handy. All completely relevant too, i have to start estimate exercise for our latest flicks 2009/2010, this involved listing similiar genre movies and looking at how they did at the box office… so opening weekend, previews, total box office, number of sites and also looking at the cast and director. Very interesting for me to see how they compile a movie estimate which is used pre-release and also as part of the investment appraisal process when thinking about whether to invest in specific movies.

Today i only had to do two runs and i managed to escape the post office, the brother of one of the directors is now chipping in. One run involved picking up Terminator heads from our sales guys and one run involved going to vodafone to sort a directors blackberry out. It was Mr Skinny pants day off, thankfully not too many runs.

The lady who asked to tidy the storage cupboard asked me to clear and tidy two new starter desks, right ok… normally this would annoy me but since i’m doing all this junk in between my cool work, that’s fine! Tip… don’t get her talking… because she won’t be stopping anytime soon!

Publicity Manager asks me to mount spray Jack Said poster onto a Rudo y Cursi board which is somewhat fun, except for the bit where i somehow get dirt on my lovely polo shirt!

So back to my cool work, hopefully i can do a good job and more work will follow. The last two days have been brilliant! I hope this continues into next week, then i can consider staying for a little longer if i’m learning this sort of stuff. Today i received the schedule and budget for the commercial i’m working on, so last night went through everything, noting things that need attention and potential test shoot lined up for next weekend. This change is all very exciting for me, i have a lot on but no rest for the wicked.

Yours,
